We are in the South Cliff or Esplanade area of Scarborough – this is to the south side of the town and close to the cliffs by the cliff lift above the Spa Complex and South Bay.
See the Google map at the bottom of the page to get your bearings or see our section on Getting Your Bearings on our Scarborough page.
Esplanade Road runs between Filey Road, as you’d expect that’s the road to Filey, and The Esplanade, which is the road along the cliff top (and the place where the fashionable Victorian elite would promenade after leaving South Cliff’s impressive churches on a Sunday).
Obviously we’re biased but we think South Cliff is the best part of town with its beautiful Victorian architecture, fantastic views of the castle and the bay and cliffs from the Esplanade, and near refined entertainments like the Italian Gardens, Clock Café and putting green. We are a 10-15 minute walk or a 15-20 minute scenic stroll into town, and 5-10 minutes down the cliff paths or cliff lift to The Spa and beach
